Judith von Hopf grew up in Dayton, Ohio in a musical family. Her mother was a piano teacher, and Judith began lessons at 3 years. At 7, she began studying piano with Mme. Olga Conus, a Russian emigrant and Professor Emeritus at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Mme. Conus was like a grandmother, nurturing her musically, and telling her stories about Russia and her colleagues, Rachmaninoff, Medtner, Scriabin and Tolstoy. At 12, she discovered the flute, and studied with Robert Cavally at the College –Conservatory. At 16, she was granted a full scholarship for the summer at the College-Conservatory Winning many competitions and awards, she went on at 18 as a scholarship recipient to the school. Later, she left music for a while, and founded a flourishing visual merchandising company. Recently she has resumed her flute career and is currently studying with Jim Walker at University of Southern California.
Judith’s
career includes solo performances with Dayton Philharmonic, Cincinnati
Pops Orchestra, and Windsong Symphony. She has toured Greece,
as featured soloist and principal flute with the Athens Orchestra. Judith was appointed principal flute with Windsong Symphony in 2003. She
performs regularly in many southern California venues. |
